Imagine a restaurant featuring good fancy food at moderate prices. Now imagine this eatery staffed by friendly people in a hip neighborhood. Ta dah! You've found Lovely Hula Hands. The specialty cocktails here are old-school, ranging from steamed milk punch laced with whiskey to the fruit-juicy Lovely Hula Hoop. The burgers are notable as well. The changing entrées may include grilled swordfish with orange and sambuca-braised fennel, fingerling potatoes and chile oil or savory buckwheat crêpes filled with squash, ricotta and kale. The only problem is the no reservations policy; expect a wait on weekends. But they will call you at one of the nearby bars when your table is ready.
