Ma Goa Restaurant Review:

“Nothing beats mother's cooking” is proved again in this family-run restaurant. In two simple, pleasant rooms with contemporary art on the walls, black leather chairs and white linen, it offers flavours and textures to tease and tempt the palate. This captivating diversity comes in a menu which is Goanese but also includes dishes from across India. Starters might include Goan pork sausage with garlic, chillies, vinegar and a potato-and-onion salsa; mains run from Ma's fish caldin which amazingly makes swordfish a gastronomic delight, and the Portuguese vindaloo, subtly combining the taste of pork with palm vinegar and red chilli-garlic masala. Equally notable is mango rice pudding, transcending hope and expectation of those three words, singly or together. The short wine list is cleverly chosen and indigenous drinks include feni liqueur based on cashews. Set 2-course dinner daily 6.30pm-8pm £10.
