Mai Thai Restaurant Review:

Pathomkon Mung-In took over this simple off-the-beaten-path Thai restaurant, where you’ll find a quiet ambience with bright colors and Asian-styled objets d'art here and there. Dishes are familiar to Thai food fans, but there are some “chefs specials” as well. Meals begin with a fragrant, coconut milk-based soup and an egg roll. Guests may customize the heat levels for their food. The dinner menu offers a curried duck with pieces of duck breast in a fine, silky coconut milk-based curry sauce surrounded by fresh vegetables. The presentation is straightforward and colorful, and the dish is satisfying if a bit small in quantity, especially for a dinner item. Massaman curry (you choose your protein) comes with a bouquet of cooked vegetables, including still bright green broccoli. Green papaya salad gets a flavor lift from the peanuts that dot it instead of the customary cilantro. For dessert, we suggest the mango sticky rice, although the rice in this case is tinted a pale green. There are wines, but the choices are not exciting, and you'll find beers a better selection anyway if you're planning to ratchet up the heat factor.
