A specialty of southern Indian vegetarian cooking makes this the place to go for rasam (hot-and-sour soup), oothappam (flat lentil pancakes studded with vegetables), idli (donut-shaped lentil cakes) and dosai (crêpes rolled around potato-and-vegetable stuffings). Each is served with a bowl of sambar, its brothy vegetable base beautifully infused with chilies, and a dish of riotous coconut chutney. Less adventurous souls also have a long list of vegetarian curries and rice dishes from which to choose. The menu is designed around the principles of Ayurveda (balanced living).
