THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Massimo da Milano Restaurant Review:
Once the neo-classical Forest City Bank Building, Massimo's underwent major transformation to become a chic space with granite tables, modern art and black accents-but it retains its former character with huge columns, bank-high ceilings and grand windows. Food is simple, delicious Northern Italian-try the veal scallops with red wine and sun-dried tomato pesto, or fettuccine with wild mushrooms and Marsala cream sauce. The lunch buffet is popular with downtown workers; it features two soups, four hot pastas, up to ten salads, pizza hot from the oven, Italian cheeses and other selections. Massimo's bakes its own bread-meals are served with warm focaccia and herbed dipping oil. But if you're lucky, you'll be there when the restaurant closes and a few loaves are left over. Massimo refuses to serve day-old bread; any loaves not sold when the place closes are offered to the last customers.
