THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mel's Diner Restaurant Review:
The key here is a menu that offers familiar fare that harkens back to the comfort-food lifestyle of the ’50s and ’60s. This chain of diners, though, isn’t a throwback. There’s subtle attention paid to the retro décor (Formica dining tables, pastel-colored booths, neon lights and glass displays) and to a menu that appeals to the whole family, with occasional tweaks always in the works. Look for Southern comforts like Blue Plate Specials, with a different focus each day of the week, from pork cutlet to country-fried steak. Dinner offers equally accessible dishes: Southern-style fried chicken, baby-back ribs, grouper fish fry, and a chicken potpie---this is the kind of place omelets are served all day.
