Alden & Harlow Restaurant Review:

Alden & Harlow occupies the subterranean former Casablanca space in Harvard Square. Chef Michael Scelfo's menu focuses on shared plates like smoked cashews, currants and rosemary as well as chips with a three-onion dip, perhaps paired with a spiced-up cocktail such as the McGregor's Garden made with parsnip purée, Benedictine and lemon. We like sharing the heirloom corn fritters for the table as a side and the mesquite tortellini made with grilled broccoli. Entrées get a little more adventurous with dishes like chicken-fried local rabbit with blue cheese and chili oil, crispy Berkshire pork belly topped with sweet strawberries and served with grits, and clams made with pig's tail and chili toast. If you're lucky, they may have a "secret burger" still available (in limited quantities). For dessert, there’s a cheese selection and even olive oil cake, but we can't get enough of the smoked chocolate bread pudding made even better with a side of Jacobsen salt ice cream.
