Blues City Cafe Restaurant Review:

Blues City Café offers the holy trinity of Memphis kitsch: barbecue, blues and beer. The tourist-friendly café sits on world-famous Beale Street and serves up the food that put Memphis on the map --- slow-cooked, tangy ribs. But you might want to save room for one of Blues City’s famous oven-broiled steaks, served au jus with generous sides, a tradition left from the restaurant’s earlier incarnation as Doe’s Eat Place. Desserts are as American as they come: apple dumplings or hot fudge brownies with ice cream. You can dance off the calories in the Band Box, where live music carries on late into the night. Blues City isn’t exactly known for its wine selection, but there are a few basic choices, such as Barefoot and, several steps up, Rodney Strong. Kids are fine here during the day and in the early evening hours, but it's best considered an adult establishment after mid-evening.
