Bourbons Bistro Restaurant Review:
Bourbons Bistro toasts the Kentucky bourbon tradition. A wall of gleaming amber bottles dominates the bar, composed of polished bourbon barrels and staves. Black and white photos of historic Kentucky distilleries dot the exposed brick walls. Meanwhile, chef Jeff Bridges draws on traditional Southern ingredients, including pork belly and grits, to craft dishes that are appropriate for pairing with the restaurant's selection of spirits. Look for such fare as spicy fried oysters, grilled salmon, and a savory mushroom bread pudding (the menu’s nod to vegetarians). But first, sip a flight of premium bourbons. The generous pours are served in Glencairn tasting glasses. If there is a house single barrel selection from a Kentucky distillery, be sure to order it. Other dishes to pair with your bourbon are the field greens salad with strawberries, aged balsamic and candies pecans; a cheese and cured meats plate; and the signature thick pork chop wrapped in prosciutto, seasoned with bourbon-smoked paprika and served with sweet potato mash and braised kale. The wine list emphasizes new-world selections, and offers roughly two dozen by the glass. In addition, there’s a reserve wine list.
