Bourbons Bistro Restaurant Review: A wall of gleaming amber bottles dominates the bar, itself fashioned of polished bourbon barrels and staves. Black and white photos of historic Kentucky distilleries dot the exposed brick walls. Bourbon bottles have even been retro-fitted with pumps to become the restroom soap dispensers. Meanwhile, chef Jeff Bridges draws on traditional Southern ingredients to create such dishes as spicy fried oysters with corn pone, Bibb lettuce salad with apple-smoked bacon, a pan-seared pork chop with braised kale, and a duck burger to which you have the option of adding pork belly or/and a fried egg. Yes, there is a wine list, too, but if you haven’t discovered what a fine accompaniment good bourbon makes to food, this is the place to find out. Desserts change nightly, but considering where you are dining, spend your calorie quota on an after-dinner, snifter-worthy bourbon rather than the sugar.
