Brewery Bar II Restaurant Review:
If you’re a fan of casual Mexican fare, crowds and convivial conversation, this is your kind of place. This BB II (no, they don’t make beer here, although they pour plenty of it) sports a patina of no-frills grit, tough-love service and sloppy plates of pedestrian tacos, burritos and enchiladas, which seems an unlikely combination for luring the masses, but this decades-old eatery has fans that turn out in droves, especially during the lunch hour, when waits for a table are often longer than the time it takes to consume your meal. What’s all the fuss about? The industrial-strength green chile is hotter than a sidewalk sale in July. Beyond that, however, there’s nothing here that will fool you into thinking that you’ve been transported to Mexico. Still, it’s a good place to belly up to the bar for a draft beer and the regular clan of local barflies makes for interesting chatter.
