Café Amelie Restaurant Review:
Visitors walking along storied Royal Street literally stop in their tracks when they pass the open gate leading to Café Amelie’s lush courtyard. On the menu is an assortment of chef Jerry Mixon's elegantly presented small plates, such as baked oysters with cream spinach and artichokes, satsuma pepper-glazed shrimp, and Brussels sprouts and bacon with a balsamic glaze. Heartier appetites will opt for entrées such as Louisiana crawfish linguini with a subtly spiced cream sauce and fresh Parmesan. French and Italian selections rule the wine list, with a few California and Argentineans rounding out the offerings. The aforementioned courtyard is a delightful spot to enjoy the locally beloved nine-layer doberge cake and a parting shot of espresso liqueur.
