Costa's Mediterranean Cafe Restaurant Review:
Costa’s décor is 80s-retro with metal chandeliers, comfortable booths and arched dividers lending a Mediterranean feel. The restaurant has nothing to offer of baby lettuces --- just the honest crunch of iceberg or romaine. But drizzle on one of the house-made dressings and you won’t care. Baked manicotti, chicken Marsala and eggplant Parmigiana are popular among the Italian specialties. Craving Greek fare? There’s avgolemeno, the creamy lemon-chicken soup. Try the moussaka; leg of lamb; juicy chicken, pork or beef souvlaki; or a gyro with house-made tzatziki sauce. Satisfy your sweet tooth with tiramisu, Amaretto cheesecake or chocolate pie. This is value dining, as mains are priced under $20, except the 16-ounce porterhouse steak, which goes for a half dollar more. Portions are generous, so come hungry. The wine list focuses on California choices. Family meals are available to go, and the hearty baked spaghetti topped with ample mozzarella satisfies kids and adults, as does the lasagna. A drive-through window in back makes it that much easier to grab and go.
