Inn of the Seventh Ray Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Inn of the Seventh Ray is located in the heart of Topanga Canyon. The main building has served as a private retreat, church, garage, gas station and auto junkyard. The current owners, Dr. Ralph Yaney and wife Lucile, were inspired by its one-time holy sanctuary spirit and transformed the place into one of the most romantic restaurants in Los Angeles. Your path to enlightenment starts with a drive through the canyon. Arrive at tables spread about the garden under gorgeous trees, and along the winding creek.

Food & Drinks: The owners initially introduced the restaurant as vegetarian, but have departed from that concept. The kitchen relies on seasonal, sustainable ingredients. Appetizers could include house-made tagliatelle with cured tuna, English peas, confit egg yolk and Parmesan. Depending on the month, standout entrées might involve Maple Leaf Farms duck breast with summer berries, avocado mousse, pistachios and beets. The bucolic and soothing setting (we prefer the outside rather than the indoor dining room, still bearing the stained-glass of its past) is a good excuse to linger and peruse the quite substantial wine list, boasting more than 400 selections that wine director Stephen Jordan selected from around the world.
