Mari Vanna Restaurant Review:

Opulence and warmth greet you as you step into Mari Vanna. Or perhaps it’s the feeling that your grandmother has invited you to her old-world home --- decked out with tchotchkes everywhere, crystal, chandeliers and fine china --- that bestows an instant welcome. Taking Russian dining to a new level of glamour and luxe, the restaurant, mythically named for a matriarch-cook in Russia, conveys the impression of dining in a multi-generational house, replete with peeled-back wallpaper to show décors of years past. Dishes hark back to traditional fare like chicken Kiev, borscht and beef Stroganoff but are served with a distinctively Mari Vanna flair and quality. For example, cabbage leaves are stuffed with filet mignon rather than the usual ground meat. Red caviar and blini service is a joy: open a nesting doll to reveal the Petrossian delicacy to adorn with crumbled egg yolks, sour cream and onions. Homemade vodka infusions, including an ultra-smooth oats and honey version, are perfect for sipping throughout the meal.
