Nuvolari's Ristorante Restaurant Review:

The North Shore of New Orleans is an increasingly popular dining destination, and Nuvolari’s is one of the main stops. Crisp white tablecloths, exposed brick walls, big windows and a bottle of olive oil on every table contribute to the atmosphere. Tazio Nuvolari, a famous 1930s-era Italian race car driver, inspired the restaurant’s name. The main dining room is the place to be, with its ice cream parlor chairs, light wood accents and white tablecloths. We recommend the escargot-and-crawfish appetizer with just the right level of garlic infusion; penne with shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes and candied pecans; and the roasted duck with a tart Bing cherry glaze. For dessert? House-made rum cake, but note that cannoli are made and stuffed to order. The comfortable, antique-looking bar is a locally popular watering hole good for an apéritif or quick nightcap. The wine list is complex and well-organized; while not extensive, it covers all bases with selections that are generally in the mid $20-$50 range. Whereas most restaurant lists are overstocked with Cabernet Sauvignon and lack hearty Zinfandels, Nuvolari’s offers four to five red Zinfandels.
