Pix Patisserie Restaurant Review:
There's no place quite like Pix Patisserie. On one side of its U-shaped bar are tapas ready to be eaten in the Spanish tradition, which is standing. Try the fried boquerones (anchovies), bacon-wrapped dates, or jamon Serrano carved to order. After dining, it's time for dessert, and that’s when guests can wander around to the other side and take a seat to order chef/owner Cheryl "Pix" Wakerhouser's whimsical pastries. Try the Carmen Miranda, a fruit tart resembling an extravagant hat; Concord, an over-the-top chocolate lover's dream; or tarte ménage à trios, which combines almond cream, chocolate ganache, and orange vanilla bean crème brûlée. Thirty-plus varieties of macarons showcase a range of colors, plus flavors from fleur de sel to caramel to coconut curry. Macaronuts --- a riff on the popular Cronut --- are deep-fried macarons. A 250-bottle Champagne collection supplemented by a 2,000-bottle wine cellar provides libations. There's casual outdoor dining when it's not raining.
