Celebrating the gold mining heritage of the Pomona Valley is this hilltop restaurant popular for banquets and weddings. The weather-beaten façade sets the theme, and rustic dining areas feature genuine historic artifacts. The dated concept includes a soup-and-salad bar and predictable menu: old-school starters like beer-battered coconut shrimp and spinach-artichoke dip are followed by steaks, prime rib, barbecued ribs and seafood. Included with all entrées is a trip to the salad bar and a basket of cheese bread, a retro guilty pleasure. Desserts include mud pie, massive sundaes and bread pudding with bourbon sauce. While some tables opt for pitchers of margaritas, the relatively basic, predominantly Californian wine list suits the setting. A buffet brunch is offered on Sundays.
