Sambuca Restaurant Review:
It's doubtful that anyone residing in the Rice Hotel when it opened in 1913 could imagine that this hip and trendy restaurant would one day inhabit the bottom floor of the historic building. But Sambuca's décor more accurately reflects the remodeled rooms that are now high-priced apartments. The residents, as well as those driving downtown for an evening out, can enjoy the nightly live music, small plates like the goat cheese-stuffed artichokes and shrimp and crab dip, and artisan pizzas with cocktails and wine. Entrées include a salmon Oscar topped with hollandaise and lump crab meat, lobster enchiladas and a blackened flat-iron steak. After dinner, try a 20-year-old port while nibbling on a chocolate toffee torte.
