Sushi Sasabune Restaurant Review:

At Sasabune, you can’t get it your way. Chef Seiji Kumagawa serves sushi his way and if you don’t like it, well, go to another sushi bar. What chef Kumagawa serves you, though, is undoubtedly fresh and sweet seafood, whether picked up daily at the Honoulu fish auction or flown in from Japan or elsewhere in the world. If you sit at the sushi counter, your option is the omakase, or "trust me" menu. The regular omakase menu is for less adventurous diners or more Western tastes, but if you are feeling a bit more daring, try the Japanese omakase menu instead. If you don't sit at the counter, you are welcome to order à la carte, where we recommend the marinated ikura, the monkfish liver if available, and even the uni, sea urchin. Wine and saké are available. Not for everyone, Sasabune has a dedicated following among Honolulu bon vivants.
