Tortaria Restaurant Review:

This Union Square restaurant might represent the culinary demarcation between when New Yorkers gave up the taco for the torta. Well, this may be slight hyperbole, but the Mexican sandwich, or torta, came into its own with the opening of Tortaria. Diners can choose between several versions: the pulled pork, served with spicy beans and chipotle peppers, hits the spot. The chocolate-ancho chicken sandwich is a delectable combination of spicy and sweet. The buns on which the sandwiches are served are refreshingly light and nonintrusive. Taquitos, guacamole and subpar fries and onion rings are available, too. There’s also plenty of beer and tequila-based drinks with which to wash it all down.
