Merritt Bakery Kwikway Restaurant Review:

This retro diner (once in a 1952-era eatery that burned, now in the former Kwikway fast-casual spot on Lake Merritt) offers all-American fare, waffles, pies and made-to-order specialty or wedding cakes. Omelets are adequate, the sandwiches pack no punches, and the fried chicken and waffles presents deli-style fast-food poultry with tender, but somewhat bland, waffles. People do not flock here for the fine eats, but it's been a breakfast-all-day East Bay diner tradition for decades.
