There is a loyal following for Mimosa, located on unglamorous upper De La Vina Street. Chef Derrick Melton favors dishes such as Alsatian onion tart, coq au vin, fresh fish and roasted venison with black currant-Pinot Noir reduction and rosemary. Nightly specials are always interesting, and the prices are reasonable. Derrick’s wife, Chris, is an experienced pastry chef who makes desserts like a light, crisp vacherin rolled in toasted almonds and coconut.
