Monarch Bay Club Restaurant Review:
Most Orange County residents don't know this beach restaurant exists. That's because only guests of the adjacent Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club can dine here, alongside those who own homes in pricey Monarch Bay. The exclusive beach club includes a bar and a lovely outdoor patio with sweeping views of craggy cliffs and south Laguna’s coastline. As pretentious as that may sound, the venue is actually rather laid back, with beach-goers, families and singles at the bar or gathering for lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch in the main dining room, which boasts tasteful décor and floor-to-ceiling windows that show off the sparkling Pacific. The menu emphasizes seafood and meats --- think citrus lavender grilled ono filet; plantain-crusted ora king salmon; and a New York Prime steak with roasted fingerling potatoes. The wine list, taken from the resort’s collection, is impressive and largely sourced from France and California.
