![]() Moonie's Texas Barbecue Restaurant Review: Texas-style barbecue is all about beef, and chief among the parts of the animal that lend themselves to this style is the brisket. Ideally, the fat cap should be left on to ensure a moist result. When you order it, you'll choose lean or moist. We go for moist, which means leaving the fat cap in place. You'll also select sliced or chopped, and we say sliced. At Moonie's, which requires a fair but worthwhile trip to the distant 'burbs, the brisket is fork tender, sweet, juicy and well-seasoned. And the frankly extraneous sauce is left to your discretion. There are two desserts --- “nilla” puddin' and apple cobbler --- but neither seem to merit the calorie expenditure. The places closes early (8 p.m.) and runs out of many popular items toward closing time, so plan accordingly. |
