Morgan M is a pretty restaurant with large frosted glass windows, but it’s located at the wrong end of Islington, close to Holloway Road. Never mind, young chef Morgan Meunier's fans would travel a very long way for one of his meals. The chef patron does you proud with dishes that illustrate his skill, honed at Monsieur Max and the Admiralty Restaurant in Somerset House. Arrive hungry; the choice is a set 3-course or 6-course menu. Expect a glorious romp through the seasons, with a soup au pistou with white beans and tomato, or terrine of seared foie gras with poached rhubarb, followed by sole with delicate summer vegetables in lemon broth or two cuts of veal with steamed root vegetables in a tomato liquor. Vegetarians will be delighted; Meunier offers a proper six-course extravaganza. Desserts are topnotch, there's a serious wine list and the young staff are attentive. Pricing is sensible for this level of skill: weekday set 2-course lunch is £23.50, 3 courses are £27.50, the 6-course vegetarian meal is £39, non-vegetarian tasting menu is £45. Dinner 3-course menu £41, vegetarian menu £45, 6-course tasting menu £50.
