![]() : This tiny spot, all whiteness and mirrors and stainless steel, beckons brightly on winter evenings and promises refreshing cool --- complete with a window display of shucked oysters on ice --- on summer afternoons. What's more, it delivers, effortlessly it seems. Not only is the daily selection of raw shellfish impressive (there are a dozen or so varieties on offer at any given time), but the menu presents a notable assortment of creative seafood dishes, some Italian-inflected, others New England-based. From shrimp cocktail to crudo staples of sockeye salmon, hamachi ceviche and day boat scallops, the menu is synonymous with an eye-poppingly bold, lip-smackingly rich repertoire. Daily specials feature lobster spaghettini, shrimp and grits, and fish tacos, while staples include a North End cioppino. We think the Maine lobster roll smothered with creamy hot butter is the best in the city. No desserts are served here, but that’s fine with us; we prefer lingering over a nice port. |
