THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED O Chame Restaurant Review:
Enter through a gate past a kiosk into a warm, Japanese-style room decorated with the works of artist Mayumi Oda. In this peaceful world, tea is the drink of choice, and it is offered in so many varieties that guests may need help matching a tea to the artfully presented East-West starters. Worth consideration --- but pricey --- are any of the meals served in bowls; all are made with fresh California ingredients and carefully described as "Japanese-inspired" rather than simply Japanese. Udon or soba noodles come in a flavorful broth with a choice of salmon, pork tenderloin or smoked trout. A wide range of seafood --- trout, oysters, snow crab, eel and more --- in many different types of dishes is fitting for a restaurant mere blocks from the waterfront.
