While this elegant restaurant in the heart of downtown Cleveland’s business district may be small in stature, the refined den for comfort food favors big flavors. Run by chef-restaurateur Marlin Kaplan, One Walnut is a hot-spot for business lunches and after-hours business dinners. The menu, which changes seasonally, consists largely of contemporary versions of standard American fare. Appetizers include almond baked goat cheese, spiced mango salad and moist crab cakes. Fish dishes---like the filet of salmon---square off against meat and game bird preparations, such as braised lamb shoulder and prosciutto pork loin. For dessert, try the warm gâteau au chocolate served with creamy mint ice cream---it's equal parts decadent and refreshing.
