Owen's Fish Camp Restaurant Review:
The little bungalow under its looming banyan tree went through a major overhaul in early 2010 to emerge as a moderately priced fish "shack" with enough ironic winks that tony Sarasota has embraced slumming it in precisely this way. Under the watchful eye of mounted sailfish and period fishing gear, diners tuck into jars of pickled shrimp, fried green tomato salad, Bloody Mary oyster shooters and cornmeal-crusted catfish. The wine list is worth a chuckle, selections divided into categories like "cheap," "decent" and "good." It is family-friendly, as much for its convivial service style as for its foamy root beer floats and hot fudge sundaes. Easy access to the nearby cinema makes it a dinner-and-a-movie natural.
