THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Panya Restaurant Review:
Blink and you will miss this slip of a place, squeezed as it is between a sushi restaurant and a Japanese supermarket. But it's a good pit stop during an afternoon of prowling around the shops of terminally hip E. Ninth St. Try the savory---if a bit unusual---Japanese-style buns filled with sweet red beans or octopus, or sandwiches made with spaghetti or potato salad, which are surprisingly satisfying. Panya (which means bakery in Japanese) also boasts some of the tastiest almond croissants you will find this side of Tokyo---or Paris, for that matter.
