Californians are used to Mexican food, but at Pasión, there’s a little bit of Texas lassoed into the mix. That’s not to say there’s Tex-Mex red sauce everywhere, quite the contrary. Flavors are bold, but fresh and balanced, as in the sour orange ceviche made with local cod, the "Texas Border Caesar" with smoked red pepper dressing, and the white enchiladas with pork chili verde and a sour cream sauce. If you still want dessert after enjoying every single one of the freshly handmade and still-warm tortillas served to your table, consider the crispy churros or coconut pie. Only beer and wine are available --- no tequila --- but the 12 taps rotate frequently and the wine list offers a good mix of local labels.
