THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Pasta Shop & Ristorante Restaurant Review:
Pasta Shop opened as a kitchen that turned out an array of traditional and creative pastas for restaurants on the Strip and around town. In 1988, it became Pasta Shop & Ristorante, serving the pastas for dinner. Chef David Alenik's cuisine is quite imaginative. The tiger shrimp and jumbo sea scallop appetizers come in a rosé-garlic sauce; tomato polenta is baked au gratin with pine nuts or slivered pistachios. Brick-oven pizzas include the classic cheese and a Greek version with feta, tomatoes, kalamata olives and oregano. Caesar salad and freshly baked garlic bread precede all entrées. Among heart-healthy choices with or without chicken or shrimp is angel hair pomodoro with fresh plum tomato sauce and basil. Seafood and pasta go well together here, as in the shrimp or scallops fra diavolo over linguine, or classic linguine and clams. Saffron shrimp served over black squid ink pasta is visually interesting and fun. The signature chicken Davida---sautéed breast of chicken with fried eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes and mozzarella---is among popular specialties. Try the tiramisu for dessert.
