THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Paul's Bistro Restaurant Review:

Paul Harpin still sounds a little like his native England, which he left for middle Georgia. His list of credits included cooking for Mick Jagger. After a series of restaurants and a stint doing catering, Paul opened another dining spot with partner Jeff Evans. Intimate and low-lit, it belies the characterless strip center in which it's located. Dishes are classic French fare, such as a perfect house-made puff pastry vol-au-vent filled with creamy seafood or perfect crêpes filled with tender creamy chicken and spinach. Everything is freshly made and tastes bright and lively. A nod to his American connections is the excellent crab and corn chowder he has named for Phil Walden of Capricorn Records fame. Among the famous with whom he has rubbed elbows is Judy Garland, who revealed her recipe for egg salad, a dish she enjoyed at the Revolution Club in London. It's one of his signature items today. Desserts, made by Paul, run to homey choices such as his perfectly English toffee cake. But he has learned his Southern lessons, too, and you'll put his 14-layer caramel cake up against your grandmother's. The wine list is short but better than serviceable, and partner Jeff Evans looks to expand it in the near future.
