Pelican Inn Restaurant Review:
The Pelican Inn seems like a Marin mirage: come down off the winding drive on Route 1, through moor-like grass-covered hills, and there it is, a stately Tudor-style house just a quarter mile from dog-friendly Muir Beach. This inn has seven snug, romantic (and exclusive) rooms for overnight guests and a dark, cozy bar and restaurant for visitors that looks like a place Henry VIII would have enjoyed. On cold nights patrons gather by the fireplace drinking pilsners or port and tucking into country-style stick-to-the-ribs English fare such as shepherd’s pie, fish ‘n’ chips, bangers and mash, and Guinness beef stew. At lunchtime, bikers and tourists pop in for the restorative ploughman’s lunch, a winning combination of cheddar and Stilton cheeses, boiled eggs, pickled onions, hearty Acme wheat bread and mango chutney. Try a game of darts in the stately Tudor bar.
