THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pharmacy Restaurant Review:

This is the restaurant that Damien Hirst designed to look like a chemist’s, so much so that the Royal Pharmaceutical Society tried to make it change its name. The downstairs bar is indeed as sterile as any medicine dispensary, with barstools resembling gigantic round white aspirins and slim glass cabinets on the walls piled high with packets of pills and plasters and boxes of balms and bandages. The food, however, is thrather cosier: baked beans on toast with bacon and Welsh rarebit is typical. Upstairs, via a concreted fire escape, is the restaurant which is plusher and more luxurious than one might expect. Here you’ll come face to face with Damien Hirst’s famous DNA mobile and attractive butterfly paintings on the walls. The menu is ambitious, and most dishes succeed, as in an unctuously rich beef stew, a fish carpaccio with nobu dressing, and roast lobster en cocotte. You’ll be surrounded by fashion victims and a few famous names. Set 2-course lunch £15.50, 3 courses £17.50.
