Pie Society Restaurant Review:
From Staffordshire, England, Edward Wagstaff opened an establishment that brings the specialties of traditional English baking to one of its former colonies. There's steak and kidney pie, cottage pie and pork pie. Steak and mushroom pie, steak and ale pie and curried chicken pie, and a selection of Cornish pasties are among the most popular options. At lunch, many selections are kept warm, while others are available in the chill case to take home and bake for dinner. An American-style flavor is November's pie of the month: turkey, dressing and cranberry. Sweets include classic shortbreads. The store sells commercial goods with an English provenance, too. Also located in Savannah at the Historic District's City Market, 19 Jefferson St., 912-238-1144; however, this smaller outpost is limited in offerings and in grocery inventory.
