THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pili Pili Restaurant Review:

Chicago restaurateur and Coco Pazzo owner Jack Weiss is the impresario who has brought this space (across from the Merchandise Mart) back to life. The menu, now being overseen by Fred Ramos, roams up and down the Mediterranean coastline like a luxury yacht with France, Italy, Morocco and Spain the main ports of call. Start with pistou, the soup of Provence, or a brandade of cod. A lamb-fennel daube over handmade, paper-thin pappardelle pasta was incredibly smooth and rich. Dessert brought a baked Alaska that was a beauty. The space is as tasty as the food. Dining room on one side, café (open all day) on the other, tablecloths, banquettes and booths. Nothing elaborate, but very nice. This place is Mediterranean to the core with a range of dishes that are creative, interesting and exciting. The wine list is varied and accessible with an eye to quality and value plus an excellent selection offered by the glass.
