Pongsri Thai Restaurant Restaurant Review:

The oldest family-run Thai restaurant in the city, this Chinatown hole-in-the-wall is good and inexpensive, but beware: It's not for the tender of palate, as most of the seafood, beef and whole-fish courses are very hot. The shrimp cooked in lime juice was so hot it brought tears to our eyes as did a sautéed chicken with a flavorful thick peanut sauce. An exception is tom kah kai, the classic chicken-coconut-milk soup. At lunch, the place is packed with lawyers and jurors from the nearby courthouses. Also located at 311 Second Ave., 212-477-4100, and 244 W. 48th St., 212-582-3392.
