Real Food Daily Restaurant Review:

This Pasadena location of Real Food Daily is decked out in reclaimed natural woods with soothing sage green and butter-yellow tones. A long counter is illuminated by vintage-style pendant lamps, and outdoor seating is pleasant. Founder Ann Gentry’s organic cuisine is prepared with no animal or dairy products, cholesterol, eggs, fats, sugars or refined flours, but packs enough flavor to satisfy those for whom healthy dining is only an occasional experience. Favorites include black bean tostadas, African peanut soup, lentil-walnut pâté, and seitan fajita. The tempeh that goes into the Reuben sandwich is not exactly Brooklyn-style pastrami, but is enhanced by an on-point faux Russian dressing. Fettuccine Alfredo and a chocolate and fig tart further illustrate how surprisingly good vegetarian food can be when it’s properly prepared. RFD may be at its best for brunch, when diners can compose their own tofu scrambles or enjoy pancakes and waffles made with almond flour.
