The word family in a dining room name tends to make our blood run to the temperature of a nicely chilled Montrachet, but with its comfy booths, friendly, efficient servers and the determination to do right by its patrons, Ricky’s Family Restaurant warms our hearts. Sandwiches, salads, and a vast array of hot specialties in copious portions draw lunch and dinner crowds, but we go to Ricky’s for breakfast. We bypass the enormous selection of omelets and egg dishes for French toast buried beneath strawberries, buttermilk pancakes with sausage or, when we’re feeling particularly self-indulgent, the fluffy, souffle-like apple pancake, a 20-minute production that causes a stir when it sails out of the kitchen.
