Ristorante Da Ivo
Very small, very exclusive restaurant, close to San Marco.
Ristorante Da Ivo Restaurant Review:
The roster of celebrities who visit this tiny restaurant is slightly shorter than the lengthy wine list. But not by much. (They usually come in via the exclusive side entrance on the canal.) The interior is a bit cramped, but who cares if you sit next to someone famous? The original chef of Da Ivo was Ivo Natali, a native of Tuscany. That may be the reason that the place serves more meat than fish, which is unusual in Venice, and you can actually order the well-known Florentine steak. Chef Giorgina Mazzero has been heading the kitchen for 35-plus years. Try the stuffed zucchini flowers, the tagliolini with white truffle shavings as a primo, and the aforementioned steak. Get the wild strawberries for dessert if they’re in season. The wine list offers labels from over 150 of the best Italian vineyards, ranging from €20 to €7000 a bottle. Reservations are definitely in order and need to be confirmed 24 hours in advance or they’ll be cancelled.
