Ristorante Frescobaldi Restaurant Review:

On a quiet strip of road down an alleyway opposite Hamleys on Regent Street, and next to the well-suited clientele of Savile Row, you'll find high-end Italian dining at Ristorante Frescobaldi. It is brought to London by the renowned Frescobaldi family, who have produced and traded wine for centuries, in partnership with hospitality venture Good Food Society. There are enormous frescos of striking Italian renaissance characters painted onto tiled walls and a lit grand central column --- it's a handsome space. It's hard to go too wrong with such a confident menu, but start with an array of antipasti, perhaps some San Daniele ham with figs, or burrata with puntarelle and caper berries. For pasta, don't miss the simple tagliolini with black truffle, or maybe the veal cheek pappardelle with rosemary croutons. Mains call for the veal chop Milanese, so big it can be shared between two people, or the classic osso buco. Given the array of petits fours, dessert is rarely needed, but if you do partake, the tiramisu is a crowd-pleaser. Wines are ruled by the regions of Italy, and there are also accessibly priced pre-grouped wine flights for the chance to taste three different small glasses with your meal, the flights ranging from £16 to £68. Set 2 course lunch £25, 3 courses £29.
