Both the chef-owner, Marco Torri, and the restaurant manager, Giovanni Baldino, were previously at Locando Locatelli, so your expectations are high the moment you step into this glossy, gilded Italian restaurant. And happily you won’t be disappointed. The restaurant’s claim that the ingredients are carefully sourced---mainly, but not exclusively, from Piedmont, where the chef gets his inspiration---is borne out by the likes of tender beef that appears as carpaccio in the starters. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff bring you the kitchen’s offerings with charm. Dishes to go for include the ever-present risotto Milanese with saffron and bone marrow; and roast and pan-fried rabbit with glazed baby carrots and artichoke sauce. You must save room for desserts, perhaps a coffee tiramisu with tiramisu ice cream, or homemade sorbets, or go for the Italian cheeses that come in top condition. The wine list is equally as interesting in its sourcing of Italian wines, which come also in carafes and by the glass. This place hit the ground running and never fails to delight.
