THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rocky Cola Cafe Restaurant Review:
Here’s another familiar celebration of the ’50s diner concept, this one tucked into downtown Montrose, which itself seems charmingly trapped in that decade. Like its many rivals, Rocky Cola is complete with jukeboxes, neon Coca-Cola signs and other period paraphernalia in a décor of red, white and black. The menu features everything from burgers and hot dogs to roast turkey, fish ‘n’ chips, meatloaf and, of course, the requisite shakes and sundaes from a traditional soda fountain. Even President Clinton chowed down on a burger here. We find the burgers, sandwiches and blue-plate specials to be generally satisfying, although not particularly memorable. Also located at 6757 Greenleaf Ave., Whittier, 562-907-3377; and 1025 Pacific Coast Hwy., Hermosa Beach, 310-798-3111.
