This may be a jewel in Ruby's restaurant empire, located right on the Seal Beach Municipal Pier. Grab a seat on the patio and take in the ocean view and sea air. Enjoy a '40s-style diner meal of a good old-fashioned burger, fries and a cherry Coke. Doug Cavanaugh built the original Ruby's in 1982 in an old bait house on the end of the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, naming the diner for his mother. Today Ruby's is ubiquitous, but the food and the scene remain timelessly good, no matter the location.
