Those looking to warm up on a cold winter day need turn no further than Ryu Jin, which serves up authentic Japanese comfort food. The décor is clean and basic, with large windows overlooking the outdoor patio and flat-screen TVs airing Japanese programming. But like any busy ramen stall in Japan, diners flock here not for ambience but for the steaming, oversize bowls of noodles, broth and various toppings. Offerings include a soy sauce-, miso- or salt-based soup, loaded with noodles, barbecued pork, soft-boiled egg and vegetables, as well as a pork broth-based soup with or without black garlic oil. Also available are several rice dishes such as thin-sliced beef and chicken curry, and traditional appetizers such as deep-fried oysters and tofu-veggie cake.
