Get an education in African coffees here or just kick back with a cup of java in a quiet corner. Adorned with African art and pottery, the rambling upstairs-downstairs spaces offer many nooks and crannies in which to sip coffee and converse or to get a bit of work done. Breakfast presents fresh-baked pastries and eggs and bacon while lunchtime brings out a good selection of sandwiches, quiches and soups. Special African dishes often appear at lunch, such as curries, peri-peri shrimp and chicken. There are wines from the Cape as well as other products from South Africa. A selection of teas is available plus African coffees and espresso drinks, smoothies and even a coffee-based cocktail. High tea is offered Wednesday and Thursday afternoons with a 24-hour advance order.
