Sage Woodfire Tavern Restaurant Review

: A Greek-American family launched this restaurant, and initially offered some Greek dishes adapted to supposed American tastes. But the menu has dropped all that in favor of classic American fare with some Mediterranean flavors. Some of the appetizers could work as small entrées, like the low country shrimp and grits. Remember '60s surf 'n' turf? Here it is, and it includes one of several steaks available on the meat-centric menu that lists everything from meatloaf to braised short ribs. The lounge-only small plates hold forth some of the kitchen’s more interesting items, such as a grilled vegetable napoleon --- enjoy it in the lounge before proceeding to your table. For dessert, watch for the Key lime pie or the apple cheesecake. The wine list is chiefly American and built on brands that hit the comfort zone. Even the beer list assiduously avoids anything edgy. Thursday is Ladies’ Night, when appetizers are half price for ladies. Also located at 4505 Ashford Dunwoody Rd., Park Place Center, Dunwoody, 770-804-8880.
