THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Saigon Thuy Restaurant Review:
This charming, bright little eating house sometimes erects an unusual language barrier by employing Chinese waiters unfamiliar with Vietnamese specialties. There are many among the 80 dishes listed, some admittedly hard to describe although the menu tries hard. Hand-rolled crystal spring rolls need 27 words, but only a minute or two to enjoy. Papaya salads and fishcakes are reminders that Thailand is one neighbour; stir-fries that China is another. Tough but tasty goat meat satay confirms that Vietnam is also a long way from Wandsworth, but the respectable short wine list recalls the French connection. The exotic and welcome final touch is tiny green bean cakes, which come with the bill.
